کاربرد say و tell در زبان انگلیسی

کاربرد say در زبان انگلیسی: Say معمولا بدون مفعول به کار می رود.

Mary said that she was very busy.

مری گفت که سرش خیلی شلوغ بود.

ولی در صورتیکه بخواهیم با say مفعول بیاوریم، باید بعد از آن از to استفاده کنیم.

Marry said to me, “ I am very busy.”

مری به من گفت: من سرم خیلی شلوغ بود.

کاربرد tell در زبان انگلیسی : tell حتما باید با مفعول به کار رود و بدون مفعول استفاده نمی شود.

Mary told me that she was very busy.

در جملات زیر شکل درست say یا tell را به کار ببرید.

۱)کارول گفت که برای تعطیلی آخر هفته به ساراتوگا می رود.

۲) Carol … me that she was going to Saratoga for the weekend.

۲) کارول به من گفت که برای تعطیلی آخر هفته به ساراتوگا می رود.

۳) I … my boss (that) I could not finish my work in time.

۳) من به رئیسم گفتم که نمی توانم کارم را به موقع تمام کنم.

۴) Paul … me all about his trip. He … (that) it was exhausting.

۴) پل همه چیز را درباره سفرش به من گفت.او گفت که مسافرتش خسته کننده بود.
