داستان انگلیسی سیاه و سفید: Black and White

A long, long time ago, when everything was just starting out, and even the planets and stars were so young that they were still going to school, there was a special class which was everyone’s favourite. The class members were a bunch of rather mischievous colours; from black and white, through to red and blue, yellow, and all the rest. They hoped to grow up to be wonderful colours, and this is what they were training for.

خیلی خیلی سال پیش، زمانی که همه چیز در مراحل اولیه ی شروع شدن بود و حتی هنوز سیارات و ستارگان آنقدر جوان بودند که تازه میخواستند به مدرسه بروند، کلاس مخصوصی تشکیل شده بود که محبوب همه بود . اعضای کلاس تعدادی از رنگ های شیطان و بازیگوش بودند، از جمله سیاه و سفید، قرمز، آبی، زرد و بقیه ی آن ها. آن ها امیدوار بودند در این کلاس رشد کنند و تبدیل به رنگ های شگفت انگیز شوند، و به همین منظور هم تربیت می شدند.

As well as funny and joyful, the colours were very naughty; particularly black and white, who were so preoccupied with causing mayhem that they were almost always late for class.

رنگ ها به همان اندازه که جالب و سرگرم کننده بودند، خیلی هم شیطان و نافرمان بودند، مخصوصا سیاه و سفید، که آنقدر سرشان به قشقرق و هیاهو گرم بود که تقریبا همیشه دیر به کلاس می رسیدند.

One morning there was a great commotion in the sky. The clouds were up there, practicing their raining, but they had been raining for so long that they’d gone and created a storm so terrible that absolutely everyone had become saddened and depressed at having so little light. When the sun started shining again, not even that managed to cheer up the world.

یک روز صبح هیاهو و آشوب زیادی در آسمان برپا شد. ابرها جمع شدند و تمرین کردند تا باران ببارند. اما آنقدر باران ریختند و توفان به پا کردند، که همه ی نورها از بین رفتند و همه چیز در غم و اندوه فرو رفت. حتی وقتی که خورشید دوباره شروع به تابیدن کرد نتوانست شادی و نشاط را به جهان بیاورد.

The only solution was to appeal, as a last resort, to the naughty, mischievous colours, even though they were still very young and weren’t yet trained for anything like this. The authorities went straight to their classroom. It was still early, and, as ever, black and white hadn’t yet turned up

تنها راه ، به عنوان آخرین راه حل، طلب کمک از رنگ های جالب و نافرمان بود. اگرچه آن ها هنوز خیلی جوان بودند و برای انجام چنین کاری تعلیم ندیده بودند. مسئولین مستقیما به کلاس درس آنها رفتند. ولی مثل همیشه رنگ های سفید و سیاه هنوز نیامده بودند.

However, there was no time to lose; they couldn’t wait for black and white. The other colours had to do something fast They ran down the corridors, out of the door, and flew up into the sky, where the clouds – ashamed for what had happened – were waiting.

اما زمان را نمی شد تلف کرد. آن ها نمی توانستند منتظر رنگ های سفید و سیاه بمانند. رنگ های دیگر باید به سرعت عمل می کردند و کاری انجام می دادند. آن ها به درون راهرو دویدند و از در خارج شدند و به آسمان پرواز کردند. یعنی به همان جایی که ابرها با حالتی شرمنده منتظر بودند.

On their way up to the clouds each one of the colours left a resplendent trail.

در راه رسیدن به ابرهای آسمان، هر کدام از رنگ ها مسیر درخشنده ای را در پیش گرفتند.

Travelling side by side, the combination of all the colours’ trails was so striking and spectacular that smiles returned to everyone’s face, and the world filled with the sound of applause.

بدین ترتیب سفر رنگ ها در کنار یکدیگر ترکیب درخشنده و زیبایی از آن ها در آسمان ایجاد کرد، که خنده را به چهره ی همه باز گرداند و جهان سرشار از صدای تشویق و شادی شد.

The colours felt honoured and delighted to be named as the sun’s official assistants. And the inhabitants of the world begged them to promise that, from that day on, the colours would always be on hand, to help cheer everyone up. It was agreed that whenever the clouds overdid it on the rain, the colours would come quickly and make a rainbow.

رنگ ها احساس افتخار و پیروزی کردند، چون آن ها را همکاران رسمی . خورشید نامیدند و ساکنان جهان به آن ها التماس کردند که قول بدهند از آن روز به بعد همیشه در دسترس باشند و به ایجاد شادی برای همه کمک کنند. موافقت شد که هر وقت ابرها باران زیادی را به زمین سرازیر ساختند، رنگ ها به سرعت بیرون بیایند و رنگین کمان بسازند

A bit later, black and white entered the classroom, finding it empty.

کمی بعد رنگ های سیاه و سفید وارد کلاس شدند و آن را خالی یافتند.

Everyone was congratulating the other colours so much for their wonderful performance that black and white – didn’t dare to ask to be part of the rainbow, and from that time onward they forced themselves to be punctual and responsible.

همه به خاطر نمایش شگفت انگیز رنگ ها به آن ها تبریک گفتند، به جز سیاه و سفید، که نخواستند جزو رنگین کمان قرار بگیرند. همین امر موجب شد آن ها درس خوبی بگیرند و از آن به بعد وقت شناس و مسئولیت پذیر شوند

Indeed, they managed this so well that now they don’t mind being left out of the rainbow, they are now the most serious and important of all the colours, and no one can get anything done without them.

امروزه اگرچه آن ها جزو رنگین کمان نیستند، ولی مهم ترین بخش هر رنگی را تشکیل می دهند و هیچ رنگی نمی تواند بدون آن ها هیچ کاری انجام دهد.
